Hello friends! Fans? Fanatics? How should I refer to my small (but influential and kind) group of newsletter recipients? A murder? Like crows? Let’s try that.
Hello murder!
That sounds really weird. Let’s stick with “friends”.
Hello, friends! (It just works.)
Hope you are all doing well and making the most of it. I have been busy working on a new book series for early readers, and last weekend I attented the Princeton Children’s Book Festival. Have you ever been? It’s in Princeton. It’s fantastic. Big, big recommend from Ol’ Greggy P.
I have two events coming up that I am excited about and wanted to share:
THURSDAY OCT 12 :: FREE VIRTUAL EVENT :: 10:05 - 10:55 AM ET
This is a virtual panel discussion hosted by School Library Journal, and is free to all interested. I’ll be on a panel called “Ready, Set, Go: A selection of books for emergent readers from some of our favorite authors.”
It’s hosted by Ben Perry from the Brooklyn Public Library and I’ll be joining Sharon G. Flake, Miranda Harmon, Naseem Hrab, and Susan Lubner to talk about our new books. Specifically, I’ll be talking about LUCKY DUCK, the book which everyone seems to be talking about. It’s a little overwhelming to be honest. You can pre-order here. Thank you.
SATURDAY OCT 14 :: IN PERSON EVENT :: IN PHILLY :: 9am-3pm :: SHAMBLES
This weekend is the Philadelphia Comics Expo! Indie comics! Mini comics! A third kind of comics!
I’ll be here with my Baloney and Friends graphic novel series, as well as a bunch of picture books and stickers. I’m tabling with my good friend Kate Glasheen who will have their graphic novel, Constellations and some other cool stuff. Read the review of their awesome book here, and come meet us on Saturday! It’s supposed to rain, I think? Come anyway. We would love to see you. Also there will be about 80 (I think) other people who make comics and comic-adjacent work there. Comics!
That’s all for now - thank for you being a subscriber. I haven’t gotten any questions recently. No fan mail. At least I don’t think so. I’ll go check my SPAM folder and you send me a question if you think of one.
I love doing these events. I miss interacting with readers as much as I did pre-COVID. I hope to see you out there.
Till then, thank you.
