Hey folks,
How’s it going? How’s your Tuesday? I had a guy come out to my studio this morning to give me a quote on some exterior painting, and he talked to me about a boil he (or possibly his brother) had lanced by his mother for much longer than I was comfortable with.
But after he left, I spent the day drawing a book and fiddling with Legos so it all worked out.
ANYWAY
My new book is out in ONE WEEK! I am so, so, so thrilled about this book. It’s a nutty idea for a story that my editor Rotem loved from the first pitch. I think it’s the best drawing I’ve done in a book, period. It’s printed on especially velvety paper in four glorious spot colors - and it’s HUGE! At least compared to my other books. I think it’s 9x11” which might actually be standard for picture books, but it feels really big and perfect for this book. And it’s out in ONE WEEK!
I want to show off some images I took of the book (I got one early) - but first a reminder that if you do PRE-ORDER, and you email me with your pre-order info, (like the reciept) and your address, I will send you a zine I made called “HOW I MADE THE BOOK LUCKY DUCK” which is my attempt at explaining the current crisis in JUST KIDDING - it’s about how and why I made the book. It was really just an excuse to talk to my pal K-Fai Steele about books we like and to make a little process document because I loved making, and love, this book, so so much.
And now, photos!
I’m planning on posting quite a bit more about this book in the coming weeks, so I won’t say much more now. I recently got a few handfuls of fan mail to sift through and will get to them very soon. PRE-ORDER LUCK DUCK HERE. Please and thank you.
Thanks for being a subscriber and taking a look every once in a while.

Can’t wait to learn more about Susan!
I'm now wondering whether the story you wrote in the afternoon was inspired by the boil lancing story?! But also Lucky Duck looks fantastic, congratulations!!
